Geothermal

Geothermal energy is generated from the heat stored underground in the Earth.  It is considered one of the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective energy solutions for both residential and commercial applications.  Because the system doesn’t rely on outside air, it keeps the inside air cleaner and free from outdoor pollutants, pollens, mold spores, and other allergens providing a much healthier environment and tremendous relief to allergy suffers.

Geothermal systems are environmentally friendly and are arguably the cleanest energy-producing systems available, as there are virtually no emissions because the system is essentially a closed-loop.  The fluid in the ground-loop heat exchangers is typically an environmentally safe, water-based antifreeze solution.  The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that geothermal heating and cooling systems can reduce energy consumption (and corresponding emissions) by more than 40 per cent compared to air source heat pumps, and by more than 70 per cent compared to standard heating and cooling equipment.  For the private homeowner, it can mean also mean a substantial savings within several years of installation.

Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source, as the reservoir of heat stored inside the Earth is massive.  Geothermal energy is very dependable, unlike other renewable sources.  Because the energy source is the heat from the Earth itself, energy is always available and doesn’t experience fluctuations based on sunlight or seasonal wind patterns that plague other alternative sources like solar panels or wind turbines.  Geothermal systems eliminate the cost of fossil fuels in the heating mode and reduce the electrical usage by up to 50 per cent in the cooling mode.
